LYD GLASS supplies architectural glass to project and wholesale buyers, covering tempered, laminated, mirror, insulated and decorative glass from one source. Our tempered range runs from 3 mm to 19 mm in clear, ultra-clear low-iron, green and bronze/brown, with seamed, round, flat or polished edges produced to your drawings and sheet sizes up to 3660 mm x 2440 mm. Production follows CE EN 12150-2:2004, ANSI Z97.1-2015(R2020), CAN/CGSB-12.1-2022 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201-2024, and orders ship from Xingang in plywood crates or A-steel racks.
A seamed edge is enough where the glass sits inside a frame and the edge is never seen. For edges that stay exposed and get handled, a round profile feels and looks better, while a flat edge suits butt joints and timber or metal profiles. Tell us how the panel is fixed and we match the edge on the drawing — this is tempered glass custom size work, so the profile is settled before tempering starts.
Clear is standard, and tinted, frosted or patterned finishes are produced to order on custom tempered glass panels. Water-jet cut-outs, hinge holes and logo marking can be drawn into the sheet and formed during production. Send the artwork and positions together with your sizes and we confirm everything on the production drawing before cutting.
No — tempering is the last production step, so a finished custom safety glass panel cannot be cut, drilled or re-edged; it will shatter instead. Sizes, hole positions and edge profile are therefore locked on the approved drawing before processing. If the opening changes on site, the usual answer is a new panel made to the revised size.
Warm water with a little mild soap, a soft cloth or a squeegee, then a dry wipe to stop streaks — that is all the surface needs. Skip abrasive pads, metal scrapers and strong alkaline or ammonia-heavy cleaners. The smooth face resists staining, so a quick routine wipe keeps it clear.
Standard clear float glass carries a faint green tint that shows most when you look along the edge of a stack or straight at an exposed edge. Face-on, a tempered glass window stays clear and neutral, which is what matters for glazing, shelving and displays. Where an exposed edge has to read colourless, ultra-clear low-iron glass from our range is the option to specify.
Carry them upright on edge rather than flat, keep them in their crates with the protective layers until the frame is ready, and wear gloves so the faces stay free of grit. A chip or deep scratch on an exposed edge is where a tempered panel usually starts to fail, so protect the edges during handling. Once the glass is in its frame, the fixing should support the full edge as shown on the drawing.
